WhatEVer!

I hear this word a lot these days – not in a positive way either. I hear it from kids and adults. I’ve even seen it on t-shirts and school supplies. I correct Maddie and Jacob when they use it in a sarcastic tone. I have used it when I am frustrated or have thought something didn’t make sense. I consider it the verbal equivalent to rolling your eyes at something or someone. I have always considered it a negative thing…

…until I heard a great song by Steven Curtis Chapman!! I have a new viewpoint on this word. I was reminded by the lyrics that “whatever” is a very important word for us to use -- in the right way! The song is titled “Whatever.” Check out the lyrics:

"I made a list wrote down from a to z
All the ways I thought that you could best use me
Told all my strengths and my abilities
I formed a plan it seemed to make good sense
I laid it out for you so sure you'd be convinced
I made my case presented my defense
But then I read the letter that you sent me
It said that all you really want from me is just

Whatever
whatever you say
Whatever
I will obey
Whatever, lord have your way
'cause you are my God -- whatever

So strike a match set fire to the list
Of all my good intentions, all my preconceived ideas
I want to do your will no matter what it is
Give me faith to follow where you lead me
Oh lord give me the courage and the strength to do -- whatever

I am not my own
I am yours and yours alone
You have bought me with your blood
Lord to you and you alone do I belong
And so -- whatever"

I love the message that “whatever” is EXACTLY what God wants from us. God wants us to do WHATEVER He teaches. He wants us to obey WHATEVER He commands us to do. Psalm 40:8 (ICB) says, “My God, I want to do what you want. Your teachings are in my heart.”

If we do whatever God calls us to do, we will be greatly blessed in return. Sometimes, God expects us to do things that are not in our plans or not something we would choose to do. I have to tell you, I was really nervous about starting our 2Bme ministry. Mostly, because I REALLY hate public speaking and being in front of people. But, God told me that this is His plan for me and He would guide me and support me. He is so wise and knows what He’s doing! I made the decision to do whatever He asked because I know His plans are so much greater than our own! As a result, I have been blessed to share God’s word and wisdom with you girls and see you learn about yourselves and who God wants you to be!

So, I want you work the word “whatever” into your vocabulary! Challenge yourself to do “whatever” it takes to follow God. Ask Him to show you what He wants you to do. Help your Mom & Dad. Get along with your siblings. Work hard in school. Respect your teachers. Love your uniqueness! Do “whatever” you can to shine God’s light to everyone around you! Smile. Speak words of encouragement. Show patience. Do “whatever” it takes to glorify God! You’ll be glad you did!! I know it!

Remember: If you don’t bring it, it won’t be brought!

Let's Get This Party Started!

Hey girls! I hope you are having a great summer vacation!

Welcome to our "2Bme" blog! I want this to be an extra outlet for you to plug into to hear God's message for your journey through "girliehood"! Growing up is going to be a wild ride, with lots of ups and downs, twists and turns. But, with God on your side, it's going to be an incredible life-learning experience!

On this blog, we will have devotionals and lessons with observations on issues impacting girls today. The "Reinforcements" sidebar will have verses to learn and hide in your heart. We'll throw in some fun quizzes and links to other great websites created with God's girls in mind (that's the "Check It!" section). And, of course, there will be some great music ("Joyful Noise") to listen to as well!

You are each so special to Him and He has great things in store for you. The most important thing you need to remember is that God loves you for YOU! There is strength in that Truth! He created you with talents and gifts uniquely suited to only you. Use those wisely to fulfill your purpose: to glorify Him in all you do! At school, at home or at the beach! ;-)

I'll try to post weekly through the summer, so keep checking in! I hope to have a few guest bloggers too! One is in Mexico right now building houses for families in need. Please pray for our group from SOCC on the mission field.

GIVEAWAY ALERT!
Before I go, here's a request: leave me a comment letting me know what you think of the blog or things you'd like to see or discuss. I will take all the comments from now until the end of June and I'll randomly draw one to win a Group1Crew CD!!! It's an AWESOME CD!!

Take care! Remember: Be true to you for Him!
